Lloyd was born in Fargo, North Dakota and at the age of 86 he passed away in Norwalk, California. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife Shirley, children Kathy Whittall (Lawrence), Elaine Johnston (John Anderson), Michael Lloyd Johnston (Martha), and Patrick Johnston (Gwendolyn), 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings. Lloyd was preceded in death by his daughter Linda, and 7 siblings.
