Louis Cornelow

Louis Cornelow of La Mirada, CA, went to be with his Lord on January 19, 2019.

He was born November 10, 1926 in Montreal Quebec. He attended public school until age 13 and then began working to support the family, becoming a fire sprinkler fitter at age 16. He also played hockey for the Montreal Junior Canadians.    

In 1952, at 26, he married Lucille Brien, a French Canadian, whom he had met at a hockey game.

In 1964, he and his wife moved to sunny southern California, living in Norwalk. Louis became a member of union Local 709, through whom he worked until his retirement in 1990.

He and Lucille moved to La Mirada California in 1973, where he resided. Prior to his wife’s death in 1992, they traveled overseas, visiting Europe and Africa.

Louis was an avid golfer who played locally weekly after his retirement into his mid-80’s. with matching scores in the 80’s He spent each day actively managing his retirement stock portfolio. He gave to several charities and became politically active as a passionate Republican.      

In 2017, after some health issues, the family mutually decided it best to move him closer to his son Bob and daughter-in law, Bei Er in Hesperia. A lot was purchased behind theirs. A new home was designed, and construction started, with Louis being actively involved.    

In the late summer of 2018, he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law. It gave him great joy to daily watch the construction progress. He greatly anticipated moving into his new residence, often commenting to the hospital staff about it in his final hospitalization. Instead, he changed his residence from Hesperia to Heaven.  

He is survived by his son, Bob, and his daughter Linda Jones, grandchildren Robby and Jadyn, and a great grandchild Elijah.
