Reynalda Ortega Guillen

Reynalda Guillen Arciniega was born on January 6, 1937 in the tiny village of San Javier, El Oro, Durango, Mexico to Antonino Guillen and Gregoria Arciniega.  The second youngest of 8 siblings she was raised in a large family and grew up with some of her nieces and nephews.  During a visit to Santa Maria del Oro, a town 80 miles from San Javier, she met Victor Ortega.  They married on April 27, 1963 in an intimate ceremony with family and friends and made their home in Santa Maria del Oro.  Their first child Martin Ortega was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 26, 1969.  Reyna raised Martin while Victor moved to the United States to secure a new home for the family.  In 1973 he brought his family to Los Angeles, CA.  Reyna gave birth to two daughters in less than one year, Leticia Ortega born on August 25, 1974 and Yesenia Ortega on August 20, 1975.  After settling in Los Angeles, Reyna devoted herself to being a mother and working as a seamstress.  She loved to knit and sew, to decorate the home, and to make clothing for her children.  Her cooking was sought by all.  She loved to feed everyone, laugh, listen to music and dance.  In 1982, the family moved to Dumas, Texas where Reyna spent most of her time planting flowers and vegetables.  She helped support the family by harvesting the land in nearby farms.  The family made the trip back to CA  a year later, and they settled in Montebello, CA.  There, Reyna was a homemaker, raising her children and taking care of many more that have been embraced as family over the years.  She became a US Citizen in the year 2000.  Later in life, she devoted herself to helping raise her grandchildren and moved to Norwalk, CA.  Her travels always revolved around visiting family, taking her children to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Juarez, El Triste, Santa Maria del Oro, San Javier, and Monterrey, in Mexico, and San Francisco, Denver and San Antonio here in the United States.  Reyna was always there for everyone, to listen, give advice, and lend a hand.  Her health slowly deteriorated but her mind, will, and faith remained strong up until the very end.  She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2022 surrounded by her husband and children.  She is survived by her husband Victor; children Martin, Letty, and Yesi; grandchildren – André, Valerie, Amanda, Marcus, Natalia, Isabella, Evan, and Jeremy; her sister Maria and brother Gregorio.  Our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, and friend will be immensely missed.  May she rest in peace.

Falleció en paz el 8 de marzo de 2022 rodeada de su esposo e hijos. Le sobreviven su esposo Víctor; sus hijos Martin, Letty, y Yesi; sus nietos André, Valerie, Amanda, Marcus, Natalia, Isabella, Evan y Jeremy; su hermana María y su hermano Gregorio. Extrañaremos inmensamente a nuestra esposa, madre, abuela, hermana, madrina, comadre, y amiga. Que descanse en paz.
