Rosalba A. Landin

July 4, 1934 — December 31, 2020

A life well-lived!  Rosalba Ayala Landin was born July 4, 1934 and went to her eternal rest December 31, 2020.  She was born in Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero, Mexico and legally emigrated to the United States as a 20-year-old.  She first settled in San Antonio, Texas where she met the love of her life Hilario Francisco Landin.  They married in 1956 and had seven children.  They moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960’s where Rosalba took care of their growing family.  She was the consummate mother and homemaker and managed with her husband to send their sons to private Catholic School. She had a mind for business and partnered with her husband to create a successful music business located at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet.  Upon her husband’s death in 2001 she took over the business with her sons, and it was a mainstay at the swap meet for many years.  Everyone knew Mrs. Landin and would stop in to hear her recommendations on current Latin music.  In addition to her love of music, she was a deeply religious woman.  She had a devotion to the Virgin Mary, and for most of her adult life prayed regularly with her Rosary group.  She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Santa Fe Springs, and was honored as a 50-year resident of Santa Fe Springs by their city council.

Rosalba was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Hilario Francisco Landin. She is survived by her 7 children, Frank Landin Jr. and his husband Ed Frey, Jorge Landin, Raymond Landin and his wife Genevieve, Benjamin Landin, Lucilla Flores and her husband Danny, Lorenzo Landin and his wife Vicky, and Bernardo Landin and his wife Maurisa.  She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Samantha Zamarripa and her husband Gustavo, Tabatha Cervantes and her husband Antonio, Missy Mendoza and her husband Johnny, Isaac Landin and his partner Christa Dominguez, Rebecca Landin, William Landin, Savannah Landin, Elijah Landin, Cameron Landin and Bernardo “LB” Landin.  She also is survived by her 7 great grandchildren, Arianna and Jocelyn Cervantes, Christian and Isabella Mendoza, Cailin and Matix Dominguez, and Xavier Landin. Additionally, Rosalba is survived by her sisters, Esperanza, & Alicia, her brother Mario, and her sister-in-law Hortencia Ayala, along with several nieces and nephews.

“Familia” was always the most important aspect of Rosalba’s life.  Her legacy of devotion to faith, and to family lives-on in the lives of her children and grandchildren.  Two of her sons served in the military following in the footsteps of their father.  Her children have enjoyed successful careers in Human Resources, Manufacturing, Engineering, Computer services, Diesel Repair and homemaking.  Her cooking was legendary, and her Chicken Mole was always the family’s go-to celebration meal. She always loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had an innate ability to soothe any fussy baby.  Her home was a haven of hospitality and welcome. She will be dearly missed by her neighbors and friends in her close-knit Santa Fe Springs community.
