On October 3, 2024, Tom L. Cherry passed away peacefully in La Mirada, California. He was born in Los Angeles, California on April 16, 1943 to Robert Leslie Cherry and Avis Anna Cole.
He was a 1961 graduate from Hawthorne High School. Tom studied at Cal State University of Long Beach receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and furthered his education at the University of Southern California to acquire his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. His history of occupation consisted of Revell, Inc as a Director of Administration, Thermador/Waste King as a Director of Industrial Relations, Coleman & Associates as a Human Resources Consultant and retired as a District Manager from Southern California Water Company in 2005. As a longtime member of The Rotary Foundation, Tom was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition for his work as a humanitarian “for their devotion to the ideal of good will, peace and understanding.”
Upon retirement Tom enjoyed hobbies such as painting, reading, and traveling. His passion for art led him to participate in the Arts Colony of La Mirada in which he served as their elected president for five years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus at St. Paul of the Cross Church in La Mirada, CA. Tom enjoyed traveling with his wife and explored over 25 countries and several states of the United States. Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Yolanda Cherry, and his children Colleen (Justin), Cynthia, Caroline, Cindy (Jason) and his grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Michael, Cheyenne, Tylor, Ramon, Ryan, Jolene, Eva and nephew, Bobby (Corey) and niece Brandy (Jeff).
